YES! Such a simple word with immeasurable power. A dear friend sent me a song titled "YES" by Barbara McAfee the other day (link below). It's not a sad song by any means. Yet, without fail everytime I listen and watch the video, it brings tears to my eyes. They aren't sad tears, but tears of my heart and soul deeply touched and opening wide.
The first few lines are:
"May you breathe easy
May your heart be light
May you open your life to each joy, each delight
May you walk with assurance that your way is blessed"
In life at times, it is hard to breathe easy and let our heart be light. If you have read my writings, you know I like to find the light even in the deepest and darkest times. There is so much joy and delight in life if we stop and look for it. I've said it so many times and so have others, that what we focus on grows. Are you focused on your troubles or your blessings?
Our thoughts are either weeds or flowers. What are you planting in your garden (your mind)? This girl points no fingers. This is a journey I am still on and most of us will be our entire lives. Do you want to keep getting more of your troubles? I know I don't. This song, and I listen to it several times a day, reminds me to focus on the good, the beautiful, the love!
What are you saying YES to? Say yes to love. Say yes to the good in life, your family, your friends, your beloved pets. Say yes to laughter, joy, peace, happiness. Life is good and we get to choose what we think about. Believe me, I'm writing this for me first. So much of my life I've stared at the problems and missed the beauty and the blessings. They are there if we open our eyes and our hearts
Let me encourage you to look inside as well and consider your heart. There is beauty in there if you listen. Take a moment, put you hand on your heart and breathe. Overthinking is overrated. A few more lines in this incredible song:
"May you know your beauty through your loved ones' eyes
May you face every change with a taste for surprise
May you welcome each stranger as a treasured guest"
You are a beautiful soul. Changes and challenges will come. Life is full of surprises! Learn to love your life and the surprises. To wrap this up, I want to tell you how awesome you are. Here are two more lines and I hope you will listen to the song (link below).
"May we take up the habit of happiness
May we dwell in the spirit of YES."
