LOST IN THE WOODS!

Now, I must tell you that this blog is all fun and games until you are lost in the woods! You ask, have I ever been lost in the woods? Can’t say I have that I can recall but then again, I don’t hike or haven’t for a long time. I’m not a “city girl” per say, I’m more of a country girl. Someday I’ll write about some camping adventures but I digress.

There are so many ways to be lost aren’t there? Back to being lost in the woods and I promised this one would be fun and games. I heard a tale recently of a seasoned hunter who was out on a hunting trip looking for elk. It was getting late in the day and the sun was dropping fast on the horizon as it tends to do and somewhat earlier this time of year (the fall).

He wasn’t alone but with a couple of other hunters. They had no success with the elk and decided to head back to camp. But which way was camp? Imagine, you’ve been out for a while, chasing big game with bows and arrows, walking miles upon miles and then the app you used pulled a fast one and sent you the wrong way. So much for technology. I wonder if the elk hacked the app? Just a thought ha ha ha ha!

Now you’ve walked several miles in the wrong direction and you have to turn around and back track so you don’t have to spend the night with the creatures who may be looking for fresh meat too, such as coyotes, wolves, oh you get the drift. No one wants to be dinner for wildlife.

I asked one of the lost ones later did they have a compass. Oh nope! Well who am I to judge since I would have been much more lost than they were and let’s face it, I don’t think I would be a good navigator out there. You ask, is there a moral to the story? I’ll see if I can find one for you.

In life, we can easily feel lost during times of change or transition. Life can feel like it is eating us alive when we are endeavoring to navigate our way out of a situation. Back to the hunters, they found their way out finally arriving back at camp totally exhausted and starving. Needless to say, it didn’t happen again at least on this trip and no elk to show for it either.

There, that wasn’t so painful was it? Catch you later and take your compass……
