the beauty in living life is fun grateful

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!

Have you ever had a day when everything felt right with the world and you are so eternally grateful for it all? That’s where I am today and I cannot seem to stop writing about it. It’s not that everything is perfect because it’s not, only that I feel like it is and that is where it starts to make sense.

I’ve recently been working on being more grateful in my life and for my life. Until I found this ‘practice’ I thought I was grateful but in all honesty, I was lacking in that area. A new friend of mine pointed me to a delightful book called “The Magic” and the magic is based on gratitude. Practicing gratitude intentionally opened my eyes to that truth that I was not as thankful as I had thought I was. That’s a humbling admission to the world. Transparency I think we can call it.

I was verbalizing gratitude but not feeling it until this little book came into my life and it was not as easy as I thought to feel grateful. Yet, I am getting the hang of it now. That is why I feel like all is right with the world today. It seems that it is finally clicking in my heart and not just my brain. What are you thankful for? Your breath, your heart, your eyes? How about that sense of smell and taste? My neighbor and friend recently experienced a loss of her taste and smell due to a common illness and that caused me to stop and think how that might feel. Awful is the best way to describe it. And think about it if you didn’t have all your toes, you would be off balance. I have a long time friend who deals with that as well.

There are so many things we take for granted in life, especially the simple things like I mentioned. So often until we don’t have something, we don’t give a second thought to be grateful for it. I watched my Mom for years gradually lose different abilities due to Parkinson’s disease and it’s heartbreaking. Now is the time to practice gratitude for every little thing in our lives. I can hear the birds, I can watch a movie and I can flip a switch to turn on my lights. It seems simplistic but when we experience the loss of something or someone, life changes.

My friends, don’t wait until you are hit with a loss of whatever kind it is; be thankful now. Do you have a bed to sleep in and clean sheets? I do and so thankful and happy including the washer and dryer I have to do my own laundry in my place where I live. Simple things but big in the end. Take a deep breath right now and when you breathe out, say ‘thank you, thank you, thank you’ and you’ll enjoy breathing more. You’re alive so live your life! Life is beautiful! Go live yours!
