An old fashioned sleigh ride! Yes with these huge horses pulling a sleigh. Jingle Bells comes to mind. This would be so much fun to do. Wrapping up would be a chore to be out in the sleigh in the snow but worth it.
Personally, I have not had the opportunity to take a sleigh ride of any kind. I did mention in a previous blog the hay ride and leaf ride. Those were fun yet this seems to be the best possible ride.
I think snow is beautiful if I don’t have to get out and drive in it unless I had a couple of big strong horses to pull me around in the sleigh. Hmmm, I wonder if they make enclosed ones with heat. However, that might take the romance and quaintness out of it.
What do you like best about the winter and the holidays? An old fashioned sleigh ride would be the ultimate for me. In the old movies they would get in the carriage and crack the whip to get going no matter the weather. But to take a sleigh ride through the snowy woods, wrapped up in a cozy blanket, snuggled with someone special and don’t forget the cocoa.
Things aren’t always as pleasant as we think they might be are they? But it’s nice to dream, imagine and picture yourself there. Take a moment and feel the crisp, cold air on your face, the warmth of the thick toasty blanket, the steam from the hot cocoa with whipped cream of course and the sound of the horses hooves crunching the snow as they plod along. Are you there?
This holiday season, take time to go to a special place even if it is only in your mind and let yourself feel it as if you were there. Things get too hectic and we lose sight of having time to relax and dream. I’ll be back with more thoughts and crazy stories over the Christmas season.
